A Genealogical record of Ving Tsun's living history
The Ving Tsun Kuen Sut began during the Ching Dynasty,
in the reign of Yung Jing.
After the Siu Lam Buddhist Temple was destroyed by fire,
the Five Elders retreated to the mountains.
Ng Mui Jo Si settled at Baak Hok Daoist Temple on Miu Mountain,
on the border of Wan Naam and Gwong Sai.
There, after seeing a snake and a crane fight,
she created a new style of Kuen Faat.
Yim Ving Tsun was being forced to marry a cruel man.
Ng Mui taught her the newly created fighting style.
Using it, she defended herself and stopped the oppressor.
Yim Ving Tsun carefully organized the techniques.
She divided them into:
- Siu Nim Tau
- Cham Kiu
- Biu Ji
- Mui Fa Jong
- Luk Dim Bun Gwan
- Baat Jaam Do
Later generations named this system Ving Tsun Kuen.
Yim Ving Tsun secretly passed the style to her husband,
Leung Bok To.
The lineage continued:
Leung → Wong Wa Bo → Leung Laan Gwai → Leung Yi Tai →
Leung Jaan → Fung Wa & Chan Wa Sun → Ip Man.
Ip Man became the modern master of the Ving Tsun style.
I, Moy Yat, humbly became one of Ip Man’s students.
I heard how the style has been carefully
passed down through generations.
I have written a simple outline of the Ving Tsun lineage.
This record is for future students to understand
how the style has been preserved.
Noted by Moy Yat.
